Do I need a referral?
You do not need a referral to Hervey Bay Physio if you have private health insurance or those paying out of their own pocket. You can claim a rebate on your treatment immediately at the clinic without the need for referral.
Those covered by Workcover, Insurance or Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) do require a referral from their GP/Doctor before they can attend Hervey Bay Physio.
Those that want to claim treatment rebates through Medicare will need to visit their GP and discuss whether they meet the required criteria for referral under the Chronic Disease Management Program (previously known as EPC program). The CDM program can provide patients with up to 5 treatment consultations per calendar year. These consultations do have a $15 gap fee.
What are your fees?
The out-of-pocket fees for private health cover patients varies from health fund to fund and depends on your level of cover. Some patients will have no gap at all while others may pay somewhere around $15-$50 out of pocket per session. Therefore, it is best to ring our receptionists to discuss the consultation costs as they will be able to provide a better understanding of the fees. We can provide a quote on HICAPS or contact your health fund prior to appointment.
Those referred to us under DVA, WorkCover and Insurance claims that are approved, do not pay for their treatment. We bill these organisations on behalf of the patient.
NDIS clients are charged in line with the NDIS fee schedule for allied health providers. Invoices are sent to plan managers (if plan managed), to the client directly (if you are self-managed) or through our online portal (if agency managed).
If you are referred to us under the CDM (Medicare) program through your GP, you will need to pay the full fee for the consultation on the day. We electronically lodge the consultation to Medicare immediately and you will usually get the rebate for the consult paid back directly to your bank account within 24-48 hours. Please bring your CDM referral to our clinic on your first consultation (unless the GP has sent it to us electronically for you).
What do I have to wear?
For some areas (such as the back, hips, mid-back, neck and shoulders) we will need to see and feel these areas to assess your problem and perform the treatment. All efforts will be made to respect your privacy and we will offer towels or blankets to cover unnecessarily exposed areas of the body. All rooms are fully enclosed private consultation rooms. If there are any concerns with uncovering areas for treatment, then please discuss this with your clinician and we will be able to find a solution.
If you are performing exercises or taking part in a pre-employment assessment we ask that you wear loose-fitting clothes that are comfortable to allow free movement (shorts, t-shirt, gym gear etc).
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring any scans, x-rays, referral letters or reports relevant to your injury to your appointment as this will assist your clinician in assessing your condition.
Please bring your private health insurance card if you wish to claim your on the spot rebate through HICAPS, otherwise, we can issue you with a receipt for your full payment to submit to your insurer.
Is there a cancellation policy?
Yes – we ask that you inform us 24 hours prior to your appointment should you need to cancel or change your appointment time. Should you need to cancel within 24 hours of your appointment the full fee may be charged.
A non-attendance fee may be charged if you do not attend your appointment.
We do kindly ask that you make all efforts to attend or at least cancel your attendance 24 hours prior to your appointment so that others who are in need of treatment may access our services.
Will I have to pay for treatment if I am a WorkCover patient or claiming Motor Vehicle Insurance?
WorkCover and Motor Vehicle Insurance will be billed directly (meaning you will not have to pay) if your claim has been accepted and you have a certified claim number, case manager and confirmation of approval of the treatment. Please bring this along to your initial consultation and we will advise you if there are any concerns with billing.
